वडा नं २५

Nepal is known the world over for its rich and ancient culture and as a land of temples. Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square, a World Heritage Site and a microcosm of this splendid heritage, is situated in this ward. For this reason, the ward is not only a source of pride for Kathmandu, but for the entire nation. The ward is spread over 10.3 hectares, and has as its neighbors Ward No. 24 in the east, Ward No. 19 in the west, Ward Nos. 26 and 27 in the north, and Ward Nos. 22 and 23 in the south. Its population in 2001 was 4,310.

Apart from the artistic temples of various gods and goddesses inside Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square, there are other edifices of aesthetic and religious importance, like Akash Bhairav and Bhagawati. Prominent commercial sites like Indra Chowk, Makhan and Bishal Bazaar are also situated here. The museum inside Hanuman Dhoka has a fine collection of artifacts that are historically enlightening.

The Ward Office building, which may be taken for a Malla-period construction because of its traditional architecture, reflects the KMC's commitment to heritage conservation and also helps to strengthen the ward's architectural character.
