Administrative Structure of KMC

Mayor is the head of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC). He is elected directly by the people for a five-year term. The Deputy Mayor, who is also directly elected for a similar period, assists him. The residents of Kathmandu also vote for the Ward Chairperson and five ward members (including a woman member) in each of the 35 Wards within the KMC.
